im reading thgruoh the quote more and more. i think the context of it is this:the top US racing category that would push Audi’s brand and also be applicable to their current array of motorsport offering(s) is a Daytona Prototype. i think he is saying that making offerings for customers’ with chassis based solely on street cars does not push the Audi brand; im thinking GT3-level offerings. he did not want to directly say that the current commercial offerings were not top-teir but at the same time he wanted to convey that it is really about pushing the brand. i think he really saying that having Audi put an applicable engine into the DP category would push Audi’s brand due to it being the top-teir for production-based drivetrains. obviously privateers would be able to buy them, but as yet, Audi has no offerings that would compete with the GM and Porsche engines; ~5L V8s. so in order to participate they would need to either build something in that configuration or have the 5L V10 certified/accepted.
